For our twenty-ninth dictée, we are focusing on words with the sound x, which can be pronounced gz, ks, or ss. (I have indicated before each list word which sound the x makes in that word.) The following 10 terms are the vocabulary for this week's dictée, as well as the silly sentence (la phrase drôle). Throughout the week, students are to practice reading and writing the words and the sentence, and also understanding what they mean.
We will also have a bonus sentence (la phrase boni). If your child is doing well with the main sentence, I encourage them to practice the bonus sentence as well. (It will not be counted toward their grade if there are errors.)
The test will be Tuesday, June 8. For the test, students are expected to use correct letter size, spacing, accents, spelling, and punctuation.
ss - soixante (sixty)
ks - un taxi (a taxi)
gz - un examen (an exam)
gz - un xylophone (a xylophone)
gz - un exercice (an exercise)
ks - la boxe (boxing)
ks - une expérience (an
experiment)
ks - une excuse, des excuses (an excuse, an apology)
gz - exotique (heating)
ks - luxe (deluxe, luxurious)
La phrase drôle :
Excusez-moi, voulez-vous soixante animaux exotiques ? (Excuse me, do you want sixty exotic animals?)
La phrase boni :
Le conducteur du taxi klaxonne aux oiseaux dans la rue. (The taxi driver honks at the birds on the street.)
